The incident unfolded on Wednesday outside Mount Horeb Area Middle School. Witnesses, including school students and nearby residents, reported hearing approximately five gunshots as officers confronted the unnamed armed teen

Prior to the shooting, the school issued an alert to parents, urging them to stay indoors and lock all doors due to the armed individual's presence. The alert cautioned that the individual was armed with a rifle and should be considered dangerous.

After law enforcement gunned down the armed teen, the school district provided updates on the incident via Facebook. Steve Salerno, the superintendent of the school district, confirmed that the armed teen did not manage to breach the school's premises before encountering law enforcement.

According to the Daily Mail, law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the campus, with the bomb squad inspecting a car linked to the gunman. The school remained on lockdown until approximately 12 p.m.

Fortunately, no additional suspects were found during the initial search of the middle school, and there were no reports of injuries to anyone other than the armed teen.

As the event unfolded, some students were evacuated, while most remained in lockdown on campus.

“You would be so proud of our students and staff, and we're so grateful for our first responders,” the school district said in a post.
